Stay tuned for fun launches coming in the future!

Read a little bit more about
our journey!
When we started this space 13 years ago it was used as an outlet for me as I transitioned from full time elementary teacher, to full time motherhood. I wanted to show all moms they can love their homes on any budget. As time went on this space shared the story of our daughter who was born with trisomy 18 and deemed incompatible with life. It brought hope and faith to so many as God walked that painful journey with us and was so faithful! He continued to bless this space and provide opportunity and growth for us to teach, encourage, and walk alongside so many of you! Recently we found ourselves going against the grain of culture and choosing for Ryan to quit his full time corporate job. This life is an adventure, our hope is in Jesus, He guides our path and we never know where that’s going to take us. We are excited to shine bright in all we do and are so excited you are part of this community with us!

To build a wall, or not build a wall….that is the question.😆 Let me know below. 👇🏼👇🏼👇🏼Button

No more waiting for your Green treated lumber to dry out before staining! Use this product and it not only dries out the wood, it also helps to preserve it, meaning not nearly as many splinters or curled boards. After applying you can stain in 3 days! Comment STAIN and I’ll send you the product to your inbox as well as the color we used that gave this wood a perfect white oak look.Button

I wasn’t sure how we were going to add curb appeal to this house when we bought it but I knew the sidewalk was going to be a big part of the transformation and that the cute trim was the launching point for the whole design. What do you think? Did we achieve the cottage vibe? Follow along as we continue to transform each space!Button

This little entry packs a big punch after we gave her some love and updated the functionality. Now it’s bright, open, and inviting. Welcome to the Waters🫶🏼 Stay tuned for all the links and details because this whole remodel was done on a very budget friendly price tag.Button

Last week we had a muddy, grassy, half usable firepit area at our cabin…until @trloutdoors came and gave us a gorgeous tumbled paver patio and sidewalk with firepit to match. It’s stunning. Goodbye mud, hello camp fires on the lake!Button

I can’t say enough good things about our hot tubs! We get asked all the time, what brand are they? @masterspas Can you use them year round? Yes. Do they require a ton of maintenance? No. Are they a constant headache with problems? Not once. Comment SPA to get the full rundown, how we have dialed in our maintenance routine (I linked everything we use) and the monthly expense they add to our properties. PLUS! @masterspas is giving you a $500 off coupon for you to invest in your very own hot tub! 👏🏼 Cheers to relaxation, family fun, and so much more from your hot tub!Button

Bless all of you gardeners. I realized it’s not for the faint of heart. Even a small raised bed garden was a struggle for me. I realized that 1.) It’s expensive, unless you start everything from seed. 2.) It never ends. 3.) By the time harvest comes I’m over it. 4.) But then I still have to clean it all up in the fall🤪 5.) And then you start the cycle all over again in the spring. Look, I tried. I made it 3 years. But then I was honest with myself that I would much rather buy produce from the farmers market and do DIY and landscaping instead, because I do feel like it’s so important to be outside and in Gods green creation while we can! So hats off to all you gardeners out there. I see you. You’re a tough breed and should be proud of yourselves! Now I’m off to enjoy my maintenance free garden table seating area and take in the views 🥰Button

It’s been a hard week, yet in the hard God ALWAYS shows up. And it still blows me away every single time. So for the sweet IG follower who obeyed the Holy Spirit prompting to pray for us, THANK YOU. God spoke clearly to all of us through it and it will forever be a memory of how He showed up on a really hard day. Now we are all just loving on Kimber like crazy. She lost her mom and these 2 were inseparable. I’m quite sure she’ll be spoiled rotten. Also say a little prayer for Ryan. These dogs are his emotional support and he loved them so deeply. ❤️Button

And now I officially feel old!🤣 Parents of littles! I wish I would have had this 5 years ago. It’s a phone that runs off of WiFi that is completely kid safe. All contacts need to be approved first and no one can call that’s not on the list. And, the best part is if you get all your friends on board, kids can call phone to phone for free! Otherwise you can pay $9.99/month so they can call anyone approved, which is what we did so the kids can call the grandmas, cousins, or us if needed! Anytime the phone rings they know it’s just for them! We aren’t ready for cell phones yet, and honestly are delaying it as long as possible. But the biggest hard in that is we want our kids to stay connected with friends and family. This phone solves that problem! Keep them safe but also let them talk and spend hours on the “corded” phone with their friends. I’ve never seen my kids run so fast when a phone rings. Pure excitement. Ps, you can also call 911 at anytime and it asks for you to input your address when you set it up so police know where to come in case of an emergency. Long live childhood! Comment PHONE for the link!Button

This summer we created an at home movie theater outside with the first ever portable Projector with detachable speakers, the Nebula P1! We transformed our deck into a movie theater and it created the most amazing memories for our family. Heads up: the discount isn't automatic! I am SO EXCITED about this exclusive launch!!!! When we were with one of the owners of @pranamat I asked her if she would consider a neutral mat set. We love our Pranamat so much that we want them to flow in our home and be beautiful laying out. They were AMAZING and made our vision come to life! And it turned out beautiful. This opportunity is only for YOU! It’s not listed on their site, it’s not available to everyone, only our audience has exclusive access. How cool is that?!? So comment PRANAMAT and I’ll send you the link to purchase your very own neutral Pranamat set today!Button

WE DID IT!!!!! Congrats Tate Ryan, we love you and are your biggest cheerleaders 👏🏼👏🏼Button

I wrote a whole blog post about graduating my first child from homeschooling. The fears, the regrets, the successes…the DID I DO ENOUGH that’s always in the back of your head. It’s been interesting looking back on the journey, and although I’d do some things differently, I would choose homeschooling OVER AND OVER again! Comment FUTURE for the link and also the book that changed our kids mindset of how they view the future and the lives they want to live.Button

I’ve been dreaming of this day for 10 years…..LETS DO THIS!!!!Button

When we first made the decision that our kids wouldn’t have social media until they were 18, I thought the main thing I was protecting them from was pornography, language, and addiction. Which is enough to make that decision for sure. But now having an almost 17 and 18 year old I’ve realized the blessing has been so much more! No anxiety, no loneliness, no depression. None of those are present in our house and I truly believe a huge part of that is because we haven’t let other peers and influencers have constant access to our kids 24/7. We’ve been able to be the loudest voices in their life and grow them into secure, confident, happy kids who don’t find validation in likes and clicks and selfies that they put out on the internet. It’s not always easy being the “strict” parents, or the “only ones” or the “it’s not fair family”. But if I can tell you anything it’s this. ITS ALL WORTH IT!! Getting to the other side I’d do it again and again. To watch my daughter know who she is in Jesus, have confidence to not worry what others think, and to lean into who God created her to be has been the biggest blessing ever. We only get to do this parent thing once. It’s scary, it’s overwhelming, and to be honest it’s downright hard. But pick your hard. Keep the end goal the main thing. Stay the course. Be intentional. And persevere. It’s all worth it. ❤️Button
-
This statistic stopped me in my tracks. And when I started thinking about it I realized it was so true. Most of our time is spent with our kids when they are under our house, our authority, our guidance. Are we making the most of it, or are we always thinking we have more time? The fact of the matter is each day matters. How we live our lives as parents matter. The habits we show, the conversations we have, the integrity we display, and the discipleship we create all matter. It’s shaping them, it’s protecting them, it’s preparing them, it’s discipling them. Because before you know it, that season is over. Be intentional. Keep the end goal in sight. And launch them well.Button

Feeling grateful. 🫶🏼Button

This week my sister and I were able to visit Riga, Latvia, to tour the @pranamat factory and offices. What an amazing adventure! What started out as two sisters nervous to travel to Europe turned into the most amazing trip with an appreciation for history, culture, beauty, and new friends. And memories. Lots of memories. Thank you to the @pranamat team for not only valuing our partnership as more than just monetary, but truly taking us in, becoming our friends, and investing in us as people. You took the very best care of us and gave us an experience we will remember forever. As for Riga, you are BEAUTIFUL! If you get the chance to go, you won’t be disappointed. It’s full of beauty without the crowd of many other European countries, and safe. We could walk the street day and night and take in everything without having to worry. Traveling also gives you a true appreciation for HOME and the people there. So grateful for my experience, and so grateful for the appreciation I have of coming back home to the place we have created and the people I love. Thanks for coming on the adventure with us! XOXO AllieButton

Boxwoods are one of my favorite shrubs to plant because they are so low maintenance and stay green year round….unless they get some winter burn. Instead of cutting them way back, which also exposes them to the elements and takes forever to get some decent growth, I found this shrub spray paint to works amazing! It completely disguises the winter kill and gives you time for the rest to grow back and fill in! All while making them look lush and full. It works amazing on cedar and arborvitae plants as well! No more ugly dead spots. 👏🏼 The auto commenting is not working but you can find the link in my bio!Button

He is risen!! Easter is forever my favorite because it’s a reminder that whatever we are facing and what is happening this side of heaven, Jesus is on the throne and He is coming back! Happy Resurrection Sunday! “Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” ~John 11:25-26Button

Being intentional to instill life skills and work ethic that will make them stand out is a very important part of our parenting and homeschooling. Especially in a world full of screens and AI. Work = purpose. Ps, we work hard and we play hard.Button

Who would have thought…. Laying on sharp spikes would improve your sleep! You have to try it out for yourself to be a believer (it comes with a 30-day trial for those who are in doubt!) It’s amazing how after 15 minutes on the @pranamat massage set, your blood circulates, your body feels warm, and you feel instant relief. Which in turn helps you to fall asleep faster and also takes away tension and aches and pains. So if you have a hard time sleeping, incorporate the Pranamat into your nightly routine! Pranamat celebrates their 17th birthday! Wow! Use my code prvbs to get an amazing offer. Link in bio.Button

I mean, it is a top contender. But also, our kids beg to drive. They love road trips and the core memories it makes. I know they’ll be talking about these trips into their adult years just like I do with my siblings. On top of that it saved us over $3000 in plane tickets and car rentals, a savings I would much rather invest into our rental property and keep in our pockets. So cheers to 21 hours on the road! It was all worth it!Button

Welcome to - The Waters- “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters.” ~Isaiah 55:1 We have yet to seek out one property, the Lord continues to drop them right in our lap, whether we want them or not.😆 After a lot of prayer we decided to add one more cabin to our rental list, and we can’t wait for you to see her! She is located on the lake right next to Dunns, just a mile away from our other rental, and is a 3 bedroom, 2 bath cabin with a walkout basement that sits right on the water. This cabin has so much character already and will be a fun and “easier” reno, but it will still be an amazing transformation! Head to the blog to read the full story (link in profile) and make sure to follow along in stories. We’ll be sharing the “before” tour soon!Button

BEFORE & AFTER! Bye bye country farmhouse, hello upscale traditional! A simple upgrade of some trim and moody paint made all the difference in the world. I made over this room on a major budget, but didn’t sacrifice design. This vanity is gorgeous with real marble counters, curved details and gold finishes, and also 40% off! Add in a $20 vintage style runner rug and some curtains turned shower curtain and the bathroom went from country farmhouse to upscale traditional. Check out the renovation process in my feed saved under bathroom makeover. Comment BATHROOM to get all the links in your inbox! *paint color is called “granite” by Pittsburgh Paints.Button

THE REVEAL!!!! I can’t believe the difference paint and trim made! It took this modern farmhouse bathroom and updated it to a traditional timeless feel. This song has been playing on repeat in my head and I figured some of you could find encouragement in it as well as a respite from the chaos of this world. Jesus offers peace the world cannot give. He offers hope you will find no where else. He offers light when the world is dark. Join me for 7 days of prayer starting this Monday, 2.2.26, to get our minds sound again and our focus on Jesus so that He can shine through us and use us to draw others to Him.Button

Let’s update this bathroom on a major budget! It’s amazing what trim work and paint can do to transform a space. I got creative to figure out a way of how to keep the shiplap but give it a total different vibe. Curious?! Follow along and make sure you tune in to all the parts because I think you might be surprised by the difference with just paint and trim!😱Button

Can you believe it!!! They resurrected Little Red!!!! A few hours online looking for parts and amazingly our local scrap yard had a cherry red Dodge Dakota sitting in the field. What are the chances!! Ryan and Tate spent one night taking it apart and one day putting it back together. They have about $600 into fixing her, which beats sending it to the scrapyard. And we also got the best homeschool lesson out of the deal. Even Ryan amazed himself that they were able to rebuild this truck. Pretty cool what you can do with a little will power and a degree from the school of YouTube! Way to go boys! Little Reds BAAAAACKK!!!!!Button

The wallpaper is up!!! And it’s GORGEOUS!! We partnered up with @urbanwalls to showcase their “Botanical Print” wallpaper in the color Carob. They offer it in peel and stick and traditiononal pre-pasted. I opted for the traditional wallpaper. I personally think it’s easier to hang and I also think the quality looks better. So grateful to have had help from Mama Sue, and Kynlee was the entertainment to push us to the home stretch! This was a big project but we tackled it in just 6 hours 👏🏼. We can’t wait for you to see the final product in the next episode so make sure you’re following along!Button

Lately it seems like I’m constantly scrolling and seeing so many people having “fun” with chatGPT. And I have to be honest, at first I was quite enthralled. Seeing chatGPT do what only a professional designer who studied light room and perfected the skill of creating mock ups do in one simple command seemed too good to be true. Having chatGPT not only come up with ideas for reels for content creators but then also write their caption? Mind blowing🤯 Asking chatGPT questions that involve feelings, emotions, sarcasm and humor and seeing it respond….a new best friend. And then my mind started reeling at how many professions AI will soon be able to take over and how many jobs will become obsolete. And maybe this is the way of the future….one where artificial intelligence holds the majority of the roles and we are just a partaker. I do agree it will make our role easier and easier, yet I think that could be the downfall of humanity. One where comfort trumps all and purpose is gone. Where the next generation won’t need critical thinking skills because a robot will think for them. The community AI could replace because you have a built in companion. And I can’t help but think it is a counterfeit for every good and beautiful thing God has given us. Fellowship, purpose, work ethic, community and being “on guard” with a sharp mind. For that reason we haven’t allowed chatGPT into our house and we have worked hard to fight the urge to let it do the thinking for us. We have taught physical skills to our kids that can’t be replaced by AI so that they will be equipped for a future with a profession that won’t be replaced and one where they find purpose to build and create with their hands.Button

For Kynlee’s 16th birthday I promised her a room makeover. It took a little while to get through all of her “stuff” but we are finally making progress and can’t wait for the transformation!! PS…Kynlee’s voiceovers are my favorite! 😆🥰❤️Button

Have you seen this trend? It’s really so emotional…thinking about all the lasts we didn’t know we did…and if I think of it too long I’ll be wrecked, so we’ll just take this moment to laugh instead.😆❤️ Thank you @calebandkelsey for the original inspo!Button

This thought has been playing in my mind a lot lately. And honestly most of it is slowing down my mind. Taking captive my thoughts. Freeing space to just be. To hear from God. To connect with my people. To soften my heart. I hadn’t noticed how full my mind had gotten until I stepped away from the noise for a bit and realized I needed to retrain my brain to just BE. So here’s to slowing down, and not speeding up. To looking different than culture and finding my peace in the Lord and taking time to make Him my priority. “The fruit of that righteousness will be peace; its effect will be quietness and confidence forever.” – Isaiah 32:17Button

This verse is what is keeping me grounded in this season. The season of noise, deception, AI, and confusion. Make sure you are keeping your heart soft and pure before the Lord. Don’t let the world make you lose the fruits of the spirit which in turn dim your light and influence for Jesus. Keep your eyes on things above. Pray. Serve. Be present. Share the gospel and the hope we have. Emmanuel - God with us. That is what the enemy is afraid of. Be the light.Button

I told Tate I love how much you love Christmas! and he said “Mom, I just love lights and wiring things.” Ba humbug🤣 Merry Christmas from my 17 year old. Ps, for those asking, he attached them with just colored masking tape. And also make sure you use led Christmas lights. He plugged them into a power inverter. Regular ones will overload it. Ask us how we know 😉Button

God has placed this on my heart for awhile now and it took until today to be obedient in it. I realized that with these dark and cold nights it gets way too easy to sit and scroll and waste precious minutes, hours, days that could have be been made being intentional with my family. Playing games, reading a book, baking, putting together a puzzle, doing a project! The things that create memories, joy, and family bonding. And I’m watching my young kids paying for it most. I want to give them the same childhood I gave my older kids. I want to finish this parenting gig strong. Because we only get one shot it, and it already goes to fast. Which is why I’m asking for help and accountability. I’ve realized you are always more successful when you let people in, when you do it with community, when you challenge and sharpen each other! So our family would love you to JOIN US! There’s nothing fancy to do, maybe just comment saying you’ve been feeling this pull too. Encourage those who want to change the culture of their family, and share a video of your family turning their phones in with #ditchthephone ! I’ll try and share as many as possible to encourage you all, because we all need each other! *ps, I understand it may take a day or two to get the family on board. I really suggest starting with your spouse, share the vision and heart behind the decision, and then have a family meeting sharing your joint decision to your kids. It might be hard at first but my hope is we all see how valuable it is as we take back our families!Button

Traditions are so important for family. It creates security and stability and also expectation and excitement. I did a candid interview with the kids to see what tradition was most meaningful to them and I was not surprised it was our advent calendar. It creates intentional family time during a busy season and has actually taught us to slow down and soak up every moment. If you want to incorporate this tradition into our family, comment ADVENT and I’ll send you my free printable list of ideas and calendar to use to fill out and use with your family!Button

It’s been awhile since I’ve done an intro and there have been quite a few new faces lately, so I thought I’d share 5 fun facts about me, but first, Hi!👋🏼 I’m Allie, mom to 5 (one who’s waiting for us in heaven) and wife to Ryan of *almost 18 years. Thanks for dropping by and tuning into our little square of life! Okay…. 1.) Christmas is my favorite holiday ever. Of course I love that it celebrates the birth of our savior, but I truly believe we try to celebrate that everyday in our home since we are nothing without him. But my favorite part about Christmas is the traditions, the intentional family time, the twinkle lights and the hibernating by the fire. It just feels like one big hug! 🎄 2.) I’m 100% an introvert and would never leave my house if I could get away with it. BUT…I know the Lord calls us to fellowship, service, and loving on people. So I force myself to be intentional with relationships because they truly are what life is all about. And community is such a beautiful thing. So although I’m a hard core homebody and introvert, you’ll see me teaching Sunday school Sunday mornings, enjoying girls sauna night to catch up with my best friends, and occasionally do a speaking gig to testify of what God has done in our lives. 3.) I just did a 3 day water fast and it kind of rocked my world, in a really good (and bad🤪) way! It was the ultimate challenge of mind over matter, pushing through hard, and seeing amazing results because of it! Check out my highlight reel if you’re interested. 😉 4.) I’ve homeschooled all four of my kids and I’m graduating one out this year! I never saw homeschooling in my future (I was a public school teacher) but I am BEYOND grateful God called me to it! Having a 17 year old I truly realize how fast the time goes and I’m grateful to have every single extra hour with my kids that I can. On top of that it allowed an environment of hands on learning, creativity, family time, and bonding. My kids are truly best friends with each other and it’s so fun to see that relationship so strong. 5.) Read. #5 in the comments ❤️Button

I just keep finding ways to use this wood fluting detail and every time I use it I’m in love! Especially when it’s free because it’s scraps I had leftover from other projects! It really elevates your design and makes it look high end on a tiny budget. Ladies, if you haven’t picked up a power tool yet, what are you waiting for? Do you know how much you can do with a chop saw and air nailer? The possibilities are endless! Comment FLUTING to get my favorite wood fluting in your inbox, along with my favorite tools to get the project done. And PS, follow along to see where else this fluting will show up, because there’s always more places to put it;)Button

So grateful for this past weekend! As mamas we don’t often take time to leave our families and go on a trip by ourselves. But I am so grateful for the opportunity to go to the #sharethearrows conference that @alliebstuckey put on and hear from amazing, humble, women of God who have a desire to pour into others and share their gifting to make an impact for the Lord. Some of my highlights were: 1.) Meeting the whole @adelnaturalcosmetics team! They invited us to a barbecue the first night and are legit the sweetest family. Arlene feels just like a Mama Sue. She served us, filled our waters, and we had the best conversation. 😭❤️ 2.) Meeting so many IG friends in real life! This was the year I said YES to spontaneity and I’m so glad I did. It’s amazing how even friends who you’ve never met feel like “sisters” because of our love for Jesus. And that includes all of YOU that I met!🫶🏼 3.) Worshipping and being encouraged with 6700 women who love the Lord and want to not only grow deeper in Him, but want to be culture changers, boldly living out their faith and linking arms together to further the kingdom and not shy away from Jesus! 4.) Getting to chat with @carlyjeanbrannon . I admire her so much as a business woman who is the most down to earth, humble and kind woman. She makes you feel important and loved and that’s all Jesus in her.❤️ 5.) Getting to be an honorary Duggar sister 😆 We got sat right in front of the whole clan and got to meet so many of them. To see them all come together to support @jingervuolo was inspiring. They have overcome so much and to see the love and tenderness was a testimony to their faith. So yes, @soniamwhittaker and I were pretty excited to be placed in front of the girls we grew up watching.❤️ 5.) Sister time!! Need I say more! So many laughs and giggles that it was so good for the soul. I still lay in bed breaking out in laughter thinking of @soniamwhittaker waving frantically at Allie B. 🤣 Love you Sone! 😘 The body of Christ is amazing. The Spirit unites us all. I’m beyond grateful to be a part of it. 🙌🏼Button

13 years ago we welcomed Juliet Faith into our family in her imperfect body, but her perfect little soul. She was used in a mighty way to bring glory and honor to God and save souls for the kingdom. We loved on her 24/7 at home for 38 days and she changed our lives forever. Thank you Jesus for teaching us that all lives are valuable, your ways are not always our ways, and you will bring beauty from ashes if we release it to you. Until we hug you in heaven sweet girl, happy 13th! XOXO MomButton

Can you believe I created this statement arch in 3 easy steps? And it’s easy enough for anyone to do! You don’t even need power tools, just some adhesive, tape, and mudding supplies. I wanted to arch this doorway for years now, and if I would’ve known about this solution, it would’ve been done a long time ago. So learn from me, transform your space without having to hire a contractor and do it yourself! Comment ARCH to get the link to order custom sized arches for your doorway! *ps, I forgot to add that after I mudded and sanded I used drywall primer to prime the new mud before paint, you’ll definitely want to do that step so the paint blends with the rest of the walls:)Button

As we see the darkness around us and witness the attack on faith and family we have to ask ourselves how we got here? What is our role in this? How can we shift the tides and change culture. And the answer is one day at a time, in our own homes, making intentional decisions with our own families that create the culture we want and hopefully we inspire families around us who choose to do the same. And the prayer is it continues to grow because of the fruit that they see from it. Ryan and I did a whole video course on how to create culture within your homes that is different than the worlds. It gives you tools to use as well as encouragement and examples for every area of your life that look set apart, raising a family on a firm foundation of Christ first, family second, and the rest falls into place. Time goes so fast, now is the time to get serious, to change the tide, to be intentional. Comment COURSE for the best sale we’ve ever done! $100 off our course, which means you can get it for just $29! Because we want everyone to be able to access it and get serious about living a life set apart!Button

God is great. Give Him all the praise. 🙌🏼 This past week we witnessed the awe and wonder and beauty God created at Glacier National Park. It was breathtaking. My favorite part was driving through the mountains and Beckett saying, “and to think with just a word God can move that mountain!” 😭🙌🏼. Yes He can buddy, and He does it time and time and time again. Thank you God for refreshing our souls through your creation, and for allowing us time as a family to connect. You are an awesome God, help us never to lose our awe and wonder for you!Button

“Are we busy, or is it all a lie…..” Read the Bible in a year with us! Starting October 1st we will begin reading the Bible chronologically from beginning to end. The reality is *most* of us have never read the Bible cover to cover. (I was 35 the first time I did!) We say we love God but we don’t truly know Him. We take verses out of context and we let feelings and emotions paint a picture of who God is instead of who He says He is. It’s time to dig in. To make God a priority. To shut out the distractions and build ourselves an unshakeable, firm foundation in a world of turbulence. Comment JOIN to be a part of our community and get my free Bible reading plan delivered to your inbox. Invite a friend, grab a family member, bring your spouse, because accountability and community is key into persevering and also growing. It’s why the body of Christ is so important. I can’t wait to see how God works in your life as you make Him a priority! 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼Button

3 years ago today we purchased the lot we built the Oaks on. (Swipe right to see how little everyone was!) 3 years of building from the ground up a vision we had for our future. 3 years of teaching the kids real life skills from plumbing to electrical to tiling and finish work. 3 years of our kids seeing what hard work and determination can do. And the past few months have been the most rewarding welcoming families into it to create memories they will hopefully remember forever. We are so grateful to be a part of your lives and don’t take it lightly. Thank you for cheering us on, supporting us, and encouraging us along the way. Our prayer is that you feel can escape the busy, be intentional with family, rest, reset, and connect while you are here, and post importantly feel Gods presence in this space. Isaiah 61:3 “They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.”Button

Every year I homeschool I have a deeper appreciation for what it has given us and more gratefulness that we persevered through the harder years. The slow paced mornings, more time with our kids, a family unit that’s not separated and freedom to choose our own schedules has been the biggest blessing. As we are about to graduate our oldest, we realize how quickly it went. So cheers to all the homeschool families whose first day of school looks a little different than most, enjoy those quiet mornings…and have an extra cup of coffee to celebrate!Button

I get asked often to speak to homeschool groups or what our homeschooling looks like now that we’ve been at this for 11 years, and to be honest, I still don’t feel qualified to talk on it. Because most days I feel like I’m just winging it. BUT…I will say that after the last couple of years I’ve learned to “trust the process” much more after seeing the results it produces. And that has made me much more confident in my homeschooling. So I thought I’d share the biggest revelations I’ve had over the last 11 years… 1.) Have a vision or an actual statement written out as to WHY you are homeschooling. Come back to it OFTEN! Reassess at least twice a year if you are executing that vision and staying on track or if you are letting the world create the vision for you. The hardest part of homeschooling is unlearning what the school system has engrained in us to look like success. 2.) So many people are excited to start their homeschooling journey but don’t rush into it! Let them be kids, let them PLAY! Cook with them, read with them. My biggest regret is pushing my little kids too hard over knowing how to count to 20 or reading. And I did it because I wanted to prove to others we were learning, not out of actual concern for my own children. 1 on 1 time (even 1 on 4 time) is the most valuable thing you can give them. They are learning skills, to communicate, vocabulary, imagination and problem solving that they aren’t getting in a classroom. We didn’t start curriculum until the kids were 6 or 7. 3.) Don’t stress out about curriculum! To be honest, we get our work done as quickly as we can so we can do life the rest of the day, which is where *most* of the learning happens! And even the curriculum we have really narrowed down. Most of kids science and history can be learned through life and interesting documentaries, historical fiction books and videos. You don’t need to complete a specific curriculum to learn. Focus on reading/writing and basic math and we try to not let school take more than 2-3 hours. 4.) As your kids get older their funnel of free time should get wider for them to explore their interests/passions/God given skills. *more in commentsButton

I have to admit, the thought of pulling weeds in rocks is enough to get me not to do it 😆 Until I figured out I could burn them away with this simple tool and a small can of propane. One canister lasts a long time and it’s so rewarding watching the weeds disappear without breaking my back or my hands. Call me lazy, but I’m doing it🤪 And my garden has never looked better! *obviously don’t use this by your house if it’s plastic or wood siding. It works best for rocks and also it’s amazing for our flagstone patio.Button

Reunited and it feels so good! I needed a permanent spot on my feed to remember the pure JOY of surprising my hubby with his favorite car he sold 17 years ago when we got pregnant with our firstborn. Swipe right to see the OG! A new core memory for our whole family! And keep swiping to see Ryan’s senior photos we took since he feels 18 again😂 You deserve it babe!!! Now let’s go cruising!!Button

17 years ago Ryan sold his most prized possession, his 1991 Mazda Miata, to help fund a much needed mini van for our baby on the way. After I got pregnant I quit my teaching job, we went down to 1 income, and we knew the little 2 person convertible just wasn’t practical and that the finances could be used in a better way. Fast forward 17 years and it all comes back full circle. I put my 17 year old son Tate on the task of finding us a Miata that looked just like dads, and he blew it out of the water. He found the perfect car, in great condition, drove almost 3 hours to pick it up and pull off the best surprise ever. And I think Ryan’s reaction says it all. Our “19th” anniversary isn’t until November but what fun is a convertible if you can’t drive it in the summer, so we gave it to him early and are so happy we did! Happy early anniversary babe!! We love you! Cheers to date nights and feeling like we are 22 again!!Button

I can’t tell you how many moms I’ve seen in tears sending their babies off to kindergarten saying “I know it will get easier, we just need to push through…” This topic is always very controversial, but in case you are that mama that feels like the world is telling you you just need to push through the unnatural feelings, the kids will get used to it, and this is just what we do….I’m here to share my story to encourage you. I taught public school for 3 years before having my firstborn. At that time I quit teaching to be a stay at home mom, and I thought once I reached school aged kids I’d “arrive” and get the much needed and much deserved break of sending my kids off to school and get “me” time for 7+ hours a day. It all sounded wonderful…until that day actually came. I soon realized my baby still felt like a baby. That sending him off would also be heartbreaking for his little sister who was his best friend. That a stranger would get more quality time with my son than I would. And that there was nothing that seemed natural about it. So instead of leaning into that, I actually questioned why I was doing it. Was I doing it just because “it’s what you do?” Or because I really believed in it? And that’s the day we decided to homeschool our kids, 11 years ago now. I never envisioned myself homeschooling. Even though I was a trained teacher this was a foreign concept. My biggest hurdle was letting go of the “idea” of what school looked like and the desire to prove to those around me that I was doing a good job. It was scary, it was hard at times, there was tears. Yet every year the beauty of homeschooling grows bigger and bigger. As my years of raising children are getting less and less the vision is getting clearer. Being able to disciple my kids. To train their hearts. To pour into their talents. To give them a love for learning. To foster their passions. To show them more of the world. To give them security and safety with the 4 walls of our home. And to gain 15,000 hours with them that I would have lost to the public school system. I’m so grateful I leaned in to that unnatural feeling. That I questioned it and didn’t just push through it. (More in comments)Button

Boys room upgrade! I found the perfect bunk beds for a boys room. With a bottom bed that’s completely detached and queen size, it’s perfect for teenage boys whose legs have outgrown a twin bed *aka Tate* and also so much easier to make than a built in bunk bed. I couldn’t believe how good these bunks fit in between the windows and it opened the space up so much. Comment BOYS and get all the details and links!Button

Did you know that most fridge filters only reduce contaminates by 10-20%? And in studies they’ve actually shown to increase aluminum in the water? Not the @aquasana Claryum direct connect under sink water filter. It reduces contaminates by up to 99% and on top of that it retains the healthy minerals our bodies need and that also help to make the water taste better. I couldn’t believe the difference in taste with this one easy swap out. On top of that our garbage has gone way down as it replaces 6,250 plastic water bottles. We swap our filter out twice a year, it takes about 10 seconds to do, and it gives us such peace of mind knowing our water is healthy and safe. Head to the link in my bio for more information!
