Love, Julie
Where I'm at, and what God is doing.
Ever just meet someone and instantly had a connection with someone? Yea, me too. I love it when that happens.
Here are some things I'd love for you to know about me right off the bat, because if you are here, I bet we will connect about something!
I have been a believer in Christ since 1991. That's the majority of my life. Which means all that goes on here is birthed from my relationship with Jesus Christ.
When I was growing up I wanted to do 3 things, I've gotten to 2 of them...1. Marry my best friend. 2. Have a job or way to tell people about Jesus. 3. Build a home, which has yet to come to pass. But won't He do it!
I have teenagers and an elementary age child. Which just means we are in new territory regularly as we parent and trying to do better with our youngest.
I love natural living, simple and collected design, hosting people regularly, crafting, baking, gardening, and teaching the Bible. I also love to travel, but also love to stay home. I know. It's complicated.ο»Ώ

**Unboxing** …a new way to get your toe in the water of using oils in your life. Did you know that there is a plant oil for all most every health issue? My mind was not prepared for all the science that’s out there about how plants can be used to support our bodies. God giving us plants is a gift. Crazy to think He knew all along we needed them. Essential oils aren’t just for your hippie, crunchy, granola friends anymore. They are everywhere, even hospitals! This new box is a Beginner’s box. Comes with a diffuser, 4 essential oils, 2 Rollon bottles, and instructions. I did the complete unboxing in stories today. I’m helping anyone that wants to get this Beginner’s box this weekend with sharing a discount code (brings it to only $100!), covering their shipping, and sending them a 2nd diffuser. Comment “me” and I’ll send you the discount code. I can’t wait for you to get this box!Button

TWO ways to overcome loneliness…. I’m a BIG believer that community is formed best around food. You favorite foods are likely someone else’s!! Make them and invite people over! Have them bring their favorites too. And maybe you can’t always make those foods but even sharing a meal over take out is helpful to not be lonely! I mean talk about all the happy hormones when we are eating good food, having good conversation, and feeling connected with others! IT’S SO GOOD!!! Do you agree? I’m curious?! When you change your mind… I literally use to loathe doing laundry. I even trained my kids to do laundry on their own. They’re in charge of the clothes they dirty. BUT, they’ve grow into teenagers. They’ve become so independent that there are less and less things they’ve become dependent on me for. Which is right and good and what I want. BUT, the days are numbered and there will be a day I won’t get to serve my grown children in the small ways they use to be so dependent on me for. So, I don’t hate laundry any more. It’s just become a small way to love and serve my children while they are still in my home. I know it sounds maybe a little dramatic but one day I looked at my grown kids and realized I better count my blessings instead of complaining I have to do something for them. π Do you relate to this? Tell me in the comments. ππ»Button

THREE TIPS FOR MAKING A GIFT BASKET: 1. Pick a theme: I am doing an essential oil theme so included oils, a diffuser, and a room spray. Pick a theme and I promise you’ll like it better than just random things thrown in a basket. 2. Pick a color scheme if you can. I did white, purple, sn a touch of yellow. It’s for a school raffle so I did the school colors. A color schemes makes it feel more throughout and professional. Promise π 3. Use the right finishing touches. Example is crinkle paper, ribbon, shrink wrap. It’s truly what will make it feel special! I did a shrink wrap because of the small things inside that I didn’t want to fall out when the gift is passed around! Also don’t forget a hand written note! It’s the best! π₯° Do you make gift baskets? What do you like to add? Tell me in the comments!Button

FIVE things I rarely do when I have people over: 1. Serve food on real plates. We use paper and plastic almost every time. It’s usually casual and we want to take the pressure out of hosting! So get the pretty paper plates and napkins if you must! I do. 2. Worry if there is enough variety. People will eat what is there! Of course they may love the queso dip you made last year but if you don’t have time don’t sweat it. Just make a well rounded meal and they will love it. 3. Not ask about allergies! You have to! You want everyone to eat and not be worried about getting sick. If they can only eat salad because you forgot to ask I promise it will feel awkward. 4. Skip dessert! Guest can pass if they want but I think it is part of the celebration of gathering. Even if it’s just popsicles from the freezer! 5. Refuse to let people help. When they ask, “What can I bring?” Tell them something. It helps them feel invested in the meal. And it’s a small way guest show appreciation. Is there anything you do or don’t do when you invite people over?? Let me know in the comments!Button

The best advice I got when my oldest was 5…he is now 17. β‘οΈβ‘οΈβ‘οΈInvest in his church friends. Have play dates with those kids and get to know their families. Make them a priority.β‘οΈβ‘οΈβ‘οΈ Why? Because I want my children to know Jesus and not resent church. They will grow up and make their own choices but if I could help them find community there then they will want to go to church. We did our best and God honored our attempts to love his church friends well and those are his people. It’s a gift to our family that he actually desires to be in church and spending time with other believers. I never wanted to get his teenage years wondering why he did let like church or wonder if he resents us taking him every week. I’m so glad we did this. Have you ever gotten this advice before??Button

Two things I stopped doing when people come over to my house… 1. STOP MAD CLEANING. I mean we live here. What I do know is just pick up obvious things like spills and major floor hazards. And I’ll check the toilet for skid marks and call it a day. 2. STOP APOLOGIZING. I stopped apologizing that my home wasn’t perfect. Everyone knows we live here and we actually use our stuff. We you apologize it puts them in an awkward place of having to comfort you with a compliment. Don’t be that host. Stop doing those two things and it will make it easier to have people in your home! We can tend to put up barriers for keeping people out because of fear of judgement when it’s actually such a blessing to have people in your home, for them and you! What keeps you from having people over? Let me know in the comments!Button

The one thing you should change in your routine is your actual laundry detergent. I’m not actually concerned with how you do your laundry - we are all fighting our own battle with laundry! π . Did you know that your laundry detergent has a significant impact on your health? Especially your kids health. Children can have more trouble than adults breaking down toxins as their body is still developing. Detergents have been linked to… ππ»Asthma ππ»Skin Issues ππ»Headaches ππ»Hormone disruptions Why? Well your detergent seeps into you clothes and when you wear them it’s a constant exposure yo those toxins. It’s an easy swap to make and if you’d like to know what we use just comment the word Laundry and I’ll send you the link. Here’s to winning the laundry battle!Button

I WAS GOING TO RETURN THEM… . Even though I share about this stuff all the time, when I started I only bought a diffuser and oils because it was on sale, AND I told myself if it didn’t work I wasn’t married to the stuff…and I’d sell it. Like what if this stuff didn’t work for me? I gave myself an out. Obviously I’m still here using the oils, the Thieves, & even the Ningxia, so they actually worked for me. Right now there is a sale for new customers. AND I’m offering $25 back until the end of June. . . This means you can try the stuff, for less, and decide if they are gonna work for you. Sometimes you just need to try them for your self and decide. . Quit listening to me chat about them and actually try them for yourself. . We were all in the throws of lockdown 3 years ago. It was that time that I got into using natural cleaning products, essential oils, and learning more about what was in my stuff that I was buying. I mean I had the time! There are lots that changed, but these are all kind shifts that have changed for me. Here is my top 3… -traditional healthcare isn’t what I thought it was. Hard to unsee those things. -ignorance kept me unaware of what was causing health issues in our home. Feels amazing to know what hurts us and what helps our health. - like the health care system, the FDA is not what I thought it was. Now everything gets scrutinized. π β‘οΈIs there anything different in your life now, 3 years later?Button

So what do you geek-out about? I realize that as I get older I geek out about things like plants and birds. So while I know that’s just getting older, I think π€, I have always loved the Bible and the little nuggets of information that you can learn that make the Bible more meaningful, which means I geek out about Bible too. Lately it’s been fun to learn about how essential oils are used in the Bible. It’s pretty fascinating π§. Tomorrow night I’m leading a class on Oils and the Bible. You may not be into oils but if you are into the Bible I’d love for you to come. I know you will learn something that will encourage you, inspire you, or just add to your Bible trivia. Sorry friend π« , your candles might be causing your headaches. The chemicals that are released fill the air and can trigger a head ache. Did you know that the particles fill the air and can even settle on your dust? This means that your continually exposed to those chemicals even after you blow out a candle. π± If you’re getting headaches regularly you might find relief by ditching candles. I know, sometimes when someone tells me something is bad for my health, I think, yea, “but I like it.” BUT, you will not miss a candle. Swapping over to diffusers is easy and it’s super enjoyable. And the mist is mesmerizing π€©. If you need a diffuser comment “diffuser” and I’ll send you a link to my favorites. Here’s to way fewer headaches friends! πππButton

Tell me if you’ve ever wanted relief from a stomach ache, or a bug bite, or want a quick splash of perfume but didn’t have anything with you to help. There is a way to use oils without having to haul all your bottles around with you. So here is the details on how to make a roller bottle for your necessary oil blends… Here is what you need: -oils of choice -roller bottles (get them cheap from @amazon) -carrier oil (I like jojoba oil because it doesn’t clog pores) For my BUG BITE ROLLER I use… 8 drops Peppermint 8 drops Lavender 8 drop Copiaba Then top the rest with the carrier oil! (Get lots of recipes from Pinterest and Google) I like to always label it so I know what’s in the bottle. Believe me it’s easy to get a roller bottle mixed up. So wipe down with rubbing alcohol and put a label or piece of tape on it so you know what it is! If you need a big bite roller, comment below and I’ll send you one!Button

Dryer balls…sort of like a carnival game without any large stuffed animals. But no, really, if you haven’t switched from dryer sheets to dryer balls it’s time. Im gonna put on my bossy big sister hat and tell you to throw them away and go spend $10 on a set of dryer balls. Here is why friend, they are a sheet of paper loaded with chemicals that aren’t what you want on your clothes or near your skin. The whole smell you think you need is actually doable with essential oils. The oils dry on the dryer balls and then give your clothes a nice scent, of your choosing I might add. And you get to play a game with them anytime you want. If you want to I’ll send you a list of my favorite oils for laundry. Just comment laundry and I’ll send you the list!Button

April 2023: walking everyday, 2 miles each day. Have you ever heard that you build self- confidence when you keep the promises you make to yourself? I’d say it’s true! It makes me want to set more 30 day goals! I listened to two books and a few hours of podcast while walking. I walked outside, on a treadmill, in a gym, and at the airport. In heat, rain, and the cold. April is pretty crazy weather wise to start this whole thing. But, walking is pretty easy to find a way to do. I do think I’ll keep it up in a more structured way that lets my feet rest. I mean I’m not 20 anymore and my shoes need to be washed a lot more when I’m walking all the time. What goal do you want to make for the next 30 days???Button

SAVE THIS POST FOR LATER!! (You’ll want this in your rotation.) Ok, don’t be mad that I didn’t share this one earlier. It’s THE BEST Carrot Cake you will ever put in your mouth. Swear it! The buttermilk glaze will make your toes tingle! Jk, but it’s what makes this cake the only carrot cake you will ever want to make ever again. I found this recipe in an old Southern Living Magazine and it had some things like vegetable oil and corn syrup that I need to get rid of so I tweaked it and it’s just as fabulous. THE BEST EVER CARROT SHEET CAKE: 2 cups all purpose flour 2 tsp baking soda 2 tsp ground cinnamon 1/2 tsp salt 3 large eggs 2 cups sugar 3/4 melted butter 3/4 buttermilk 2 tsp vanilla 2 cups grated carrots 1 (8 oz) can crushed pineapple drained 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut Stir together first 4 ingredients. Beat eggs and next 4 ingredients at medium speed with an electric mixer until smooth. Add flour mixture, beating at low speed until blended. Fold in carrots and next 3 ingredients. Pour batter into a greased and floured 13 x 9 inch pan. Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes. Cover pan loosely with aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning and bake 13 more minutes or until a wooden pick inserted into center comes out clean. Drizzle with buttermilk glaze. Cool completely and frost with cream cheese icing. Buttermilk glaze: 1 cup sugar 1.5 tsp baking soda 1/2 cup butter 1/2 cup buttermilk 1 tsp vanilla extract Bring sugar, baking soda, butter, buttermilk to a boil in a pot over medium high heat. Boil, stir often, 4 minutes or until mixture is golden brown. Remove from heat, and stir in vanilla extract. Cream cheese icing: 1/4 cup butter, softened 1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened 1 (16 oz) pkg powdered sugar 1-2 Tbsp milk for thinning if needed Beat butter and cream cheese at medium speed with an electric mixer until creamy. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, beat at high speed 10 seconds or until smooth.Button

Before and after… doing the unseen work of leaning into time with God. When I chat with people about God you know what I’ve found that they want? They want to feel close to God. Here is my advice: stir up your affections for Jesus. What are you doing that makes you love him more? How I like to do this is: -listen to a sermon -go for a walk outside and spill my stuff in prayer -worship music on in the background of my day -be with other believers -read a familiar part of the Bible -make sticky notes of encouraging scriptures What do you do to stir up your affections for Jesus?Button

DOES GOD CARE ABOIT WHAT CLEANER YOU USE? In the reel I said yes, and while I believe he does, it’s not really even about the specific cleaner you use. It’s about this: God cares about you! It’s you. It’s your life and your body he cares about. So I 100% believe God wants you to care about how you are taking care of the one body he gave you. Isn’t that just the best news though? God loves you so much that he would care about how you treat your body! This verse I want tatooted on my forehead so I don’t ever forget it: “the Lord cares about our bodies.” 1 Cor. 6:13… Anyone else tracking with me on this? Let me know in the comments!Button

This week I chatted with some college ladies about this. It’s not the whole self-care mantra, but it’s just us agreeing with God. Tell me if you’ve ever had a hard time with this one?ππ»Button

Me, and a group of women I adore, host a dinner once a month for college students. Why? Because I had that in my life and loved it! But you know what we do that’s different than just having a meal in someone’s home? When I was in college I wanted to talk about God, so…we sit around a slow meal and talk about God things. I literally could sit and eat and talk about God all day. I think that’s my love language! π Loving people doesn’t have to be some big thing, just show up in people’s lives in ways you needed when you were younger. What did your younger self need?? Let me know in the comments.Button

There maybe a way you can feel a shift if your mood throughout the day. I’ve been chatting this week in stories about how essential oils support our mood, anxiety, tension…and even the after school scaries. This Sunday is for you friend to come smell what I’ve been talking about. My house, snacks, and oils. You deserve to feel like you can have a handle on the big feelings. It makes your a better mom, friend, and spouse. We do operate in our lives so much better when we have the tools we need. AND, if you aren’t local and want to chat and see if this might be a good fit for you send me a message. Local friends message me for my address if you need it.Button

There is a way to alleviate the heavy feeling in your chest, flip your tone with your kids, and calm the nervous tummy. Let’s look at the facts. Valor and StressAway (which is what I used in the reel) have properties that affect your emotions. What that means for you is your mood will be boosted. And the real values is that you can feel in control of your emotions. Essential oils and aromatherapy work by using your sense of smell. The nerves in your nose stimulate your brain and that triggers a release of chemicals like Serotonin and Dopamine, which boost your mood. Boosting your mood is what you want right? I’ve been using Valor and StressAway to boost my mood for a while because it works for me. There is a way you can have more control over your emotions. Message me and we can chat and see if this might be a good fit for you!Button

Dear Young Ladies I know and love: I remember being in college and never having a Valentine. It was always a bummer watching all my friends with their roses and candy. But with the perspective from where I am standing now I am so glad I didn’t get in my own way then. God was doing a lot of work in 20 year old Julie that would solidify in her heart who she was in Christ before she would take on the identity of being his wife. 20 years of being his Valentine. Forever thankful God didn’t let me or us mess this up. Just a reminder….Valentines day is better when you both know who loves you most. Drop a β€οΈ in the comments if you’ve had some lonely Valentine’s Days! Maybe God knew what he was doingπButton

Still laughing a week later. These are my friends that were raising babies right along side me and now we get to raise teenagers and college kids from a distance. It’s the same but different. We get one weekend a year. We laugh at ourselves way more now and we really sit and pray for each other out loud now (not later on our own, but together, audibly, in the same room, which is a game changer for me). I can tell you that those you raise your babies with are lifers. If they’ve cleaned your kid’s poop, and talked you down from from the top of a Chick-fil-A playground tower, they will be there when your kids are bigger than you are and your crying at the thought of them going to college. Love these lucky girls!Button

Essential Oils are bad for dogs πΆ , right? What about cats? π So ASCPA poison control says to always ask your vet about putting essential oils on your pet. Which I am all for, since I’m not a vet! Here are some things you should think about though… - When using oils around pets, start small and see how they respond. - Care for each pet differently. Their sense of smell is way stronger than ours so make adjustments specifically for that pet, like you would for a family member. - Always leave a way for your pet to leave the room. If it bothers them they will leave. - Never let them eat pure essential oils. Most dogs and cats don’t like plants and it could make them sick. - Remember, they absorb through their paws and skin, so think about what they are already exposed to. Toxic cleaners, air polluting plug-ins and candles?? If you are using them, they are already being exposed to harmful substances. Using pure essential oils would actually be creating a less toxic environment. So my answer is NO! They aren’t bad for your pet, just be smart about it. If you want more info I can send you an Oils & Pets Cheat sheet! Message me to get it sent to you!Button

FAQ: Is the Aria diffuser from Young Living worth all the hype? Yes!!! Here’s why: 1. She’s a beaut! Like so unique, and a conversation starter with all my guests. 2. When you buy a diffuser from YL you get a better quality plastic, which means it last longer. 3. All YL diffusers have a 1 year warranty! Say yay! If you have crazy kids or rowdy pets π 4. It covers more square footage - 450 to 500 sq ft! It’s a big diffuser so you only need one for your living room! 5. The mist is just better! The amount of mist I get is crazy more than in my other diffusers. Like there is a big difference. The Aria diffuser is a premium diffuser. And what that means to you is you can have confidence that you spent your money wisely. And the real value is knowing that you are creating a cozy home by investing in a quality diffuser you will have for a long time. In fact, diffusing has shown in research studies to reduce stress and change our moods and as a result has actually made our homes more relaxed and cozy. Having a relaxed and cozy home is what you want, right? Check my bio or my highlight titled “Aria” for links and details. You will love her in your home! πButton

Hi, it’s me Julie. Yes I have something in my nose. 4 years go if you had told me I would be putting a small rubber ring infused with essential oils in my nose to help with headaches I would have said, “ok, tell me more.” π But, 5 years - 10 years ago. I’d would’ve said, “no way!” Funny how life takes you places and changes what you’re open to. Four years ago I had a recently had a stroke out of no where and was willing to try things I had written off before. So here I am, with an oil ring in my nose to help with a headache. Ha! Go figure!! So, I say, let’s all take what life hands us and learn and do better. Isn’t that what life is all of us learning and growing? What is something you do now that your younger self would be surprised about????Button

Moms know this…. Foaming hand soap last longer. When you tell your child to wash their hands they can be a little heavy handed on the soap. They can use a ridiculous amount and still miss spots. π€·π»βοΈ Foaming hand soap is water based. You can just go top the soap dispenser off with water and make it stretch a few more days or weeks!π This is the easiest DIY. Literally took me a minute to make.βπ» Change up the scent every time you refill by changing out the essential oils you choose. Have you tried making your own foaming hand soap before?? You totally should. This recipe is non toxic since it doesn’t have all the bad stuff like SLS & “fragrance.” It’s gentle on sensitive skin and it’s for sure very easy on the wallet. I had to quit. That old me was loving those fall candles. π― New Me…ahh let’s just say I’ve gone cold turkey. I learned that they release toxins into the air and I’m all about breathing clean air. Very basic, I know, but our lungs pull in toxins and end up in our bloodstream. Then they end up in our cells. π³ Soooo, it’s sort of important to make sure the air your breathing is clean. Ditching candles was easy. And I replaced all the fall smells I’m obsessed with by diffusing essential oils. Leave your name and I’ll send you some info on how you can use essential oils and a diffuser this fall.Button
